Waa...waa....waaa....
After 10 days off, it's back to work tomorrow. I know it won't really be that bad....it's just the thought of it that I'm not looking forward to and the 1,000,000 emails that will be waiting...
We had a great vacation and it was soo good to get out of town and see something different. We enjoyed some awesome fireworks in Plano, played at Schlitterbahn and Canyon Lake, and Lance and I even got to dance at Gruene Hall - fabulous week!
Hopefully, Lance can get some pictures uploaded for me to share this week!
I'm a child of God, a wife of 15 years to my college sweetheart, mom to 2 beautiful children thru open adoption, teacher of youth girls, interior designer, bunco player, card maker, minister's wife! Life is good!

We have a place!
We took a mini-vacay plus house-hunting trip the last few days and we had success!
We are going to lease a home for the next year. Our home here hasn't sold yet, but hopefully will soon and we'll have time to scope out neighborhoods, etc. and determine where we want to "land" in San Antonio.
But, for the next 12 months, we have a place that will work nicely for us. And since it has 4 bedrooms, we will have room for guests! :) It even has 3 full bathrooms - yahoo!
After the success on the house-hunt, we were able to vacay a bit. Some friends had given us a gift card to the Pappas restaurants and we were able to enjoy some delicious seafood.
We floated the Comal River, which was an interesting experience. Note to self: don't ever float the Comal River when the Guadalupe river is low - all the partyers that are usually on that river come to the Comal and it was a little like a frat party from college - complete with exhibitionists, drunks, etc. Fortunately, our kiddos didn't pay much attention, but Lance and I were ready to get them off the river!
Schlitterbahn was the big fav of L's - that girl is fearless. She did all the big slides with Lance and even when she got dumped out of her tube, she swam right back up and kept going. N, not so much, so he and I enjoyed the lazy river and other more tame adventures.
We also enjoyed Wonder World - a little overpriced for me, but the kids enjoyed it and so that made it fun for us!
We are now on the countdown for the move!!! Lance has just over a week before he starts his new position!

Vacation advice needed
After the last 2 years of heading south to the Beach in the middle of hurricane season, we've decided to do something different this year. We're fast learners, we are. :) But we have not in fact decided what to do.
Ya see, next year is the big vacay we've been talking about for years. Disney! Our deal was our youngest child had to be 5 before we would go. It's alot of $$$$, it will take a lot of time, and plus, I want them to actually remember the trip! I know LOTS of people take younger children and that's great for them, but for us, not so much.
So, all that to say, since the BIG trip is next year, the vacation this year needs to be less expensive and smaller.
Our criteria are these:
***Not too far a drive (we discovered last year that the 7-8 hour trip to South Padre Island was a wee bit ambitious for us; we are "old school" and don't have a DVD in the car; our entertainment is each other, books, and toys! :)
***We go the 3rd week in August, so it will be hot - we need to be somewhere with either a body of water or a pool or preferably both!
***Our kids will be 7 and 4 - so activities have to be child-friendly
*** We like to go somewhere and stay in the same location for 3-5 days so we can truly relax, unpack, and unwind - we aren't yet to the days of being able for the "roadtrip" of multiple stops on multiple days!
Anyone have any great suggestions within a 4-5 hour (maximum) radius of Bryan/College Station?!? I know, I'm asking the impossible!?!

Did I really do it?
Yes, I did! I FINALLY have our vacation pictures! yippee!! I've gone and gotten all technological on you. Next thing you know I'll be writing code...
As you will see below, we had all manner of fun. Just a small sampling of what we did...went to the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi - top picks there? N - stingrays; L-dolphins
We went go carting - super fun! We played miniature golf and little L - she has a shot on the LPGA - she's good!
We spent one day at the Schlitterbahn, one day at the beach, went on the pier and watched people catch fish.
N driving fast like Momma:

We're back!
We had a great time in South Padre. There is still ALOT of devastation down there, but the locals were soooo glad to see tourists and we were happy to stimulate their economy! My goal is to have my pictures downloaded and on my blog by Monday!
Highlights of the trip:
Both kids loved Schlitterbahn which is a HUGE relief to Lance and I as it's one of our favorite places to go in the summertime!
The beach was great too and only about 100 yards out our front door. The kiddos collected shells and even saw a crab!!
Making it to our house after driving straight back - 8 hours my friends, 8 hours...and we don't have a DVD in our car! Wow, were we glad to be home!
We met N's new 1st grade teacher last night and she seems very nice. She already knew the kids' names and was setting the precedent for the rules - this is impressive. She is young and this is her 4th year to teach. N has one of his best friends in his class which will be great as long as they don't get into too much trouble!

Paradise, here we come!!!
As you can tell from my vacation countdown, I'm very excited to be going on vacation!!! I do this to myself every year about this time....I get so busy and stressed out getting everything done that the last few days are exhausting!
The night before we leave, my kiddos have been invited to a pool party. Lance will take them and I will finish packing in peace and quiet - yippee!!
I've scheduled some posts to publish while we are gone so you aren't left with nothing to read....'cause I know you are literally hanging on every word written on my blog!

On the Countdown!!!
We are going on vacation in a few weeks - yippee!!! We are going to South Padre Island and are very excited. I've never been there before and am really looking forward to the calm, relaxation. Lance has been several times so knows a few things that he definitely wants us to do, but I need some feedback for several things we are considering, but aren't really sure of.
Have any of you ever been to SPI and done the sand castle building lessons? This sounds intriguing to us as the kiddos LOVE sand castles, but we don't want to waste our $$$ if this is not really a great thing to do with kids?
How about the Pirate Ship cruise out of Post Isabel? Lance was down there a couple of weeks ago and he thought it looked pretty cool, but it's pricey. Has anyone been? Is it worth it?
We are definitely going to the beach, Schlitterbahn, and just relax! We have rented a little 2 bedroom/1 bath bungalow and it has it's own pool in the backyard along with a grill, so we are looking forward to having our own little private area where we can cook and swim on our own timetable.
On our way home, we will spend one night in Corpus Christi and do some things there. Any advice on kid-friendly things?
Hope you and yours have had a vacation this year or will soon---we all definitely need to get away from time to time!!

My baby is three
My sweet baby girl, L, is a baby no more. It pains me to think of how quickly the time has gone. The sleepless nights, the illnesses, the temper tantrums, everything that I thought would go on forever....well, some of these things do remain :)
She is 3 now and what an exciting year that will be - lots of changes in the 3 year old year - by this time next year, she will be a different girl.
We celebrated her b-day on Saturday in Dallas with my parents, brother Paul and sis-in-law Mindy and their 4 kids: E -5yo; A-4yo; O- 2 yo; and H - 9mths. It was a good time. Mindy made a beautiful Ariel cake - the little mermaid - complete with ocean colored icing - she loved it! We had fun enjoying the cousins and playing. L got some neat gifts and her favorite was her "boombox" She has become quite the little singer and loves dancing! She played D-Jay yesterday and her favorite song is "Kiss the Girl" from the Little Mermaid soundtrack. She put on her finest princess dress-up clothes, sunglasses, and danced the afternoon away. It was great!
Our spring break trip was very fun - we spent lots of time at the park playing; we rode bikes; explored creeks; went to Build-A-Bear and the zoo. Grandpa took us on a wilderness adventure where we found a big river and threw rocks in a creek. Nana had special treats and spoiled us for a week. We are relaxed and ready to get back into the routine.
Hope you all had a good Spring Break or will have one if you haven't gotten to break yet!
